Dayna here! If you’ve been following my Twitter, you know that I’ve been working on a project this summer that’s been under NDA, so I couldn’t talk about it.
Guess what I can talk about now.
I’m happy to announce that said project is none other than Argonus and the Gods of Stone, the newest PC adventure game from Zojoi – the same company who developed Shadowgate.
For years now, I’ve been constantly plugging Shadowgate as one of the best game remakes I’ve ever played, and I still stand firmly by that. Apparently that led to a “senpai noticed me” moment, and in June of this year, Dave Marsh at Zojoi asked me if I wanted to be one of the beta testers for Argonus.
I was already over the moon when the game was announced, because Greek mythology is EXACTLY MY JAM, and combined with Zojoi’s track record with first-person adventure puzzle games, I could not say yes fast enough.
During the testing, I started noticing typos and such all over the place, and since proofreading is my career nowadays, I offered my services as a pedantic stickler and the rest is history. I ended up proofing the entire Argonus script, so if there’s an error anywhere, you can blame me.
I had a blast playtesting Argonus, and I’m proud to have played a part in smoothing out the bugs and seeing some of my suggestions implemented. If you’re a fan of games like Shadowgate, Déjà Vu, The Uninvited, Myst – that whole puzzle-solving adventure genre – or even just Greek mythology in general (nice Argonauts you have there, be a shame if something…happened to them), Argonus is going to be a great addition to your collection.
