FLASH FACT: The titular street in this episode was named after the late Carmine Infantino, the man who designed Barry’s Flash costume and who was one of the architects of DC’s Silver Age. I love it when the show does this stuff. Enjoy this recap of CW’s The Flash.

Quick note: I’m not doing anything like the first King Shark episode because it’d have to come from Jaws 2 and, while I might be the only person in existence who is able to quote some of the lines from that movie, there’s really not a monologue that fits or is long enough from it.

This week starts off with a sad music montage of everyone twenty-four hours before Iris West is slated to die. Tracy is still working on equations, H.R. is still trying to inspire everyone, Cisco is trying to find a power source for the bazooka, Joe is staring into space and then hugging Wally, and Iris is laying in bed with Barry. Iris asks Barry to get her some caviar, but it’s really just an excuse to film her last message to Barry in case she dies.

After the logo, Cisco gives Barry a call when he’s back at home to let him know that he has good news. Cut to outside of A.R.G.U.S., where they meet with Lyla. Cisco says he knows her organization has something that can power their Speed Force bazooka. She admits that she does – the power source that powered the Dominators’ ship, and Barry can’t have it because she doesn’t trust Barry given that she used to have a daughter and now has a son. Thanks, Flashpoint!

Putting aside that this entire episode could be solved with Lyla assigning someone to monitor the power source while it’s in Team Flash’s possession (like, I don’t know, Diggle), we go to S.T.A.R. Labs. Barry is convinced he has to break into A.R.G.U.S. to steal the power source, but Cisco lets him know about aaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllll the security systems A.R.G.U.S. uses, including power dampeners. Iris comments that none of them are master thieves, which gives Barry an idea.

He travels back to Siberia in 1892 and recruits Captain Cold for the mission. After Snart reintroduces himself to the team, they corner Barry and force an explanation out of him. He promises to put Snart right back where he found him, history and Snart’s death unchanged. Cut to Savitar, working on his damaged suit. Killer Frost decides to push him on his dedication to the cause, and he responds with enough venom and rage in his voice to convince her. He has memory flashes of what Barry is currently doing, and Frost asks if they should stop them. Savitar isn’t worried about it, saying a speed gun can’t stop a god.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Snart is going through bits and pieces of his plan with Team Flash. After Tracy comes in and learns Barry’s secret identity, he asks Joe to take Iris someplace without telling him where. Joe grabs Wally, and they take Iris to Earth-2. With only a few hours left, Barry and Snart start the heist. Barry uses H.R.’s facial transmogrifier to mimic Lyla as he brings in a handcuffed Captain Cold. He gets stuck at the password, so he beats up the two guards at the front door before they can set off an alarm.

On Earth-2, Joe is cleaning his gun and he and Iris reminisce for a bit before she hands him her engagement ring and tells him to give it to Barry if anything happens. Barry and Snart come to the room the power source is in, behind a lock that costs $10 million to build. Snart cracks it in thirty-seven seconds. Snart reminds Barry of Phase Three of their plan (“Expect the plan to go off the rails”) and King Shark appears. Barry takes the cold gun and seems ready to kill King Shark, but Snart has a better idea. He’s been watching Shark Week aboard the Waverider and notes that most sharks are cold-blooded, but the Great White is partially warm-blooded and never ventures into waters below a certain temperature.

Bullshit. Great White sharks venture into cold water all the time. That’s where seals, some of their favorite prey, live. They’re partially warm-blooded for that reason – to keep their core temperature up while they hunt. (SOURCE: https://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/shark-week/videos/why-are-great-whites-warm-blooded) So Snart’s idea of putting King Shark to sleep by dropping the temperature of the room isn’t just wrong, it’s more bad science. (By the way, this also disproves Jaws: The Revenge‘s idea that a Great White can’t go into Caribbean waters because it doesn’t like warm water.)

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, H.R. and Tracy get more touchy-feely. I gag. Let’s get back to A.R.G.U.S., where it wouldn’t be bad science without Leonard Snart. At least he’s not freezing laser beams this time. The plan seems to work, and they start to venture inside when Snart l;asfju’ppidg’arg;lkj’dpcvgivpdfgk’po’0apdfbgi’kapfgkpofr

…Sorry, my head exploded. He says “Reminds me of Jaws. They couldn’t show the shark because it looked bad.” *bzzt* Wrong! They couldn’t show the motherfucking shark because the motherfucking shark didn’t motherfucking work!

I’m sorry, this shit bothers me and I can’t seem to turn it off.

So anyway, Barry and Leonard “Fake Facts” Snart continue their heist but eventually get captured. Lyla saw Barry refuse to leave Snart behind and gives him the power source anyway. Barry takes Snart back to where he picked him up, but Captain Bad Science imparts some advice before they go their separate ways: Barry needs to stop trying to stoop to Savitar’s level and use his kindness against him.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry arrives to announce their victory and asks where Iris is. H.R. immediately blabs it away before Barry turns around, revealing his scarred visage. WHOOPS IT’S SAVITAR. They get a warning off, but Savitar is nearly unstoppable. He breaks Wally’s legs and gets Iris to surrender herself before he can kill Joe and Harry.

Barry comforts Wally at S.T.A.R. Labs, then everyone gets ready to go to Infantino Street. H.R. blames himself, and he should, while Cisco comforts him, which he shouldn’t. Cisco is getting ready to leave when he vibes Killer Frost in the forest, ready for their duel. Barry tells Cisco to go save Caitlin while he tries to save Iris.

The rest of Team Flash arrives at Infantino Street while Cisco finds Killer Frost. During their fight, Frost gains the upper hand. Meanwhile, Savitar arrives with Iris. Barry manages to catch him with the bazooka, but it doesn’t work. Savitar spent an eternity figuring out the trap and how to counter it. And then he kills Iris and the episode ends with her saying her wedding vows, recorded on her phone at the beginning of the episode.

This was a really fun episode, despite my problems with the bad science about my beloved Carcharodon carcharias. Snart really is a great foil against Barry and he is always a highlight. I can’t wait for next week and to wrap up this season.
